Maardu 1/2

Maardu, Estonia 2020

Maardu is a part of the Tallinn metropolitan area. It mainly functions as a major transportation hub consisting of a seaport, railway depots and a connection to the motorway. Most of the towns geographical area is devoted for practical functionality, making it an utilitarian urban environment. However, recent real estate developments suggest an escalation in transforming Maardu from just an industrial town to a suburban district of Tallinn (with heavy industries). This series documents the state of Maardu as of fall 2020 and will receive a follow-up series in fall 2030.
